A Muslim leader in the Northern part of Nigeria reported having direct the Muslim Umma to be at attention as the Eid ul-Ad’ha Festival is approaching. The Muslims should look out for the new moon because it gives a clear direction of when exactly the big Islamic festival will take place.
Many people believe the actual date of the 1442AH (2021) Eid ul-Ad’ha will come up on Monday, 19 July to Wednesday,21 July (3-day period). But for the most part, Islam is acts of worship (especially those with time) that is not mandated on guesswork but the study of the sun and moon to check for the appropriate time.
Therefore, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III (Sultan of Sokoto) has informed all Muslims to look out for the new moon of Dhul Hajja 1442AH.
As reported by The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Prof. Sambo Junaidu, Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto also signed the statement of President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) – Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakr III (Sultan) made on Friday.
Sultan Messages to The Muslim Umma
That said, as the Sultan said on Friday “This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that Saturday, July 10, which is equivalent to 29th day of Dhul Qadah 1442AH shall be the day to look out for the new moon of Dhul Hajja 1442AH.’’
After which he added “Muslims are, therefore, requested to start looking for the new moon on Saturday and report its sighting to the nearest District or Village Head for onward communication to the Sultan.’’
Then The Sultan prayed Allah for His assistance to Muslim Umma in their performing of the religious duty.
In brief, as you might have read above, Dhul Hajja is the Islamic month which Eid ul-Ad’ha festival is observed, the festival which Allah make a religious duty from the tough of the Prophet Muhammed (SAW), due to the incident that happens to the Prophet Ibraheem (A.S).
As the festival approaches, you should not only prepare for rams and clothes. Mind preparation is the most essential, for Allah approval of Ibadah, also based on the intention.
